SELANGOR WINS MSL ..NEXT MALAYSIA CUP

League leaders Selangor, gunned down bottom club Police 6-1, to secure the 2008/2009 season's Super League title at the Selayang Stadium, with two matches to spare.

With the win Tuesday, coupled with closest rival Perlis' 1-2 lost to KL Plus, Selangor, under coach K. Devan, regarded as the 'Man with the Midas Touch' collected 60 points while Perlis who are in second place with 53 cannot mount a challenge for the title even if Selangor were to lose both their remaining matches

.Backed by a sea of supporters who came in Selangor's red and yellow colours, and an attack spearheaded by Malaysia's two-goal hero in the match against Manchester United, Mohd Amri Yahya, it did not take long for Police to feel the impact when they conceded the first goal as early as the 4th minute through Rudie Ramli's strike.

Mohd Nasrio Baharom made it 2-0 in the 30th minute while Amri added the third in the 47th minute before Mohd Razman Roslan (55th min pen), Amirul Hadi Zainal (71st) and D. Surendren (75th) completed the rout.Khairul Izuan scored Police's consolation goal in the 86th minute. In Kota Baharu, Kelantan failed to take advantage of playing at their own backyard and lost 0-1 to Kedah at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium. In Kuantan, Pahang beat Perak 2-1 while KM Naza upset Negeri Sembilan 1-0 and Johor FC added on the UPB-MyTeam's woes with a 5-0 win.

In the league table, Kedah with 48 points remained in third spot while Johor FC with 45 points moved up to fourth place ahead of Kelantan who were relegated to fifth spot.Terengganu who have played a match less, are in sixth spot with 43 points while Negeri Sembilan and KM Naza with 37 points are in seven and eighth places respectively.

  3. Bro, this news came from Bernama right? What on earth were they thinking, two glaring mistakes: 1. there are only 1 match remaining, so the sentence 'with two matches to spare' and 'even if Selangor were to lose both their remaining matches' are definitely out of place. And 2. Mohd Nasrio Baharom actual name is Mohd Nasriq Baharom. And this came from supposedly our national news agency
