GOOD START FOR MALAYSIA


Malaysia made a flying start in the ACC Under – 16 Elite Cup when they defeated Iran by 135 runs played at the Kinrara Oval, Selangor, Malaysia.

Malaysia won the toss batted first and scored 187 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 40 overs. Skipper Thejas Rajah top scored with 62 runs from 80 balls which included 5 four's and 2 towering sixes and was ably supported by Nalin De Silva who made 28 runs.

For Iran AfshinTiredast took 4 wickets for 40 runs while WahabKhursand had 2 wickets for 28 runs. In reply the Iran batsmen could not handle the Malaysian spinners and were bundled out for a paltry 52 runs in 24.1 overs.  

Shankar SathishChandran  captured 5 wickets for 11 runs in 7.1 overs and  Pavandeep Singh  took 3 wickets for 5 runs in 5 overs. Shankar SathishChandran was eventually named man of the match for his mesmerizing spell.

At Bayuemas Oval Nepal beat Kuwait by 78 runs. Winning the toss Nepal batted first and scored a total of 179 in 32.4 overs. Their runs came from NurdhojSen 47 runs and KushalBhurtel 35 runs.

For Kuwait Morshed Mustafa took 4 for 44 in 8 overs, Abd. WahabIfthikhar 2 for 35 in 8 overs and SaideepYarapureddy 2 for 31 in 5 overs.

Chasing Nepal's total Kuwait were all out for 101 runs in 32.5 overs. For Kuwait SaideepYarapureddy made 38 runs and the other being FaizanSidiq who made 27 runs respectively.

Nepal's KalicharanYadav took 4 for 12 runs in 8 overs, ShashiBhusanMisra took 2 wickets for 10 runs and Jagdish Chand took 2 wickets for 32 runs. For his excellent spell KalicharanYadav was named man of the match.

At Penang Sport Club, in the rain interrupted match Oman defeated Hong Kong by 6 wickets on D/L method. Winning the toss Oman put Hong Kong in to bat and were 61 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 22 overs when rain interrupted.

The match was then reduced to 22 overs per side and Oman was set a target of 69 runs. For Oman ShreyasMalhotra took 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs. Chasing the revised target Oman lost 4 wickets before seeing victory, Abishek Ramesh  scored 17 runs not out named man of the match. Oman passed the score in 20.1 overs.
