Tango Fever Hits KL

KUALA LUMPUR (16 March 2017): After making its way across the major cities worldwide, the adidas Tango League is ready to take over Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as it heads over to Makespace, Quill City Mall on March 19, 2017.

The Tango League, unlike any ordinary futsal competition, is a platform to expose aspiring young footballers or football enthusiasts to stadium match-days’ atmosphere while recreating professional playing conditions thus handing participants invaluable playing experience. Every urban footballer will be given the opportunity to become as famous and successful just like the professionals they all idolise.

Similar to the Bangkok, Paris, London and Berlin editions, this league is not just a series of events as it promotes community engagement and also focuses on creating the next generation of brand influencers through social media among other aspects.

Through this league, football enthusiasts between the ages of 16 to 25 will have a chance to showcase their skills, increase their social media following and most importantly win prizes.

With a minimum of seven players per team, four from each team will try to upstage one another within the match duration of ten minutes. The group stage will feature four teams per group - Group 1 and Group 2 - with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.

Winners will be rewarded with the cash prize of RM5, 000 while the runners-up take home the cash prize of RM3, 000.

After each match, a man of the match (MOTM) or Most Valuable Player (MVP) will be hand-picked by three pro-footballers, plying their trades in the Malaysia Super League and are sponsored by adidas Malaysia. The player with the highest number of MOTM/MVP nominations on that day will be the Tango Pro and gets the privilege of going home with an adidas boot deal in hand.

However, the excitement of the Tango League does not stop there as participants and supporters alike will be treated to a host of other on-site activities such as the Play Station 4 FIFA 2017 Game, Tango Pro mini drill activities (One-on-One Challenge, Hit the Target, Freestyle Challenge) and the Tango Pro Live Instagram Booth. Food trucks converted into kiosks will be present at the venue with various fusion of delicacies on sale.

The teams competing in the tournament include top local futsal teams namely Tot United, Red Galacticos, and One United.
