FLOURISHING FINISH TO CFAL5 AT ESPLANADE

The ‘Red Bull-Campaign for a Lane’ (CFAL) got off to a rousing start with participation of 3,200 cyclists and ended with a great flourish at the Esplanade today.

The fifth edition of CFAL was clearly the biggest cycling event held in the state, covering a distance of 82km around the island without any hitches, as cyclists from all walks of life, young and old, including several from neighbouring states and Southeast Asian nations graced the occasion.

Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, had earlier in the morning flagged off the cyclists at the Esplanade to mark an awareness campaign to promote designated safe lanes for cyclists in the state, with the Red Bull truck leading cyclists throughout the ride.

Organised by G-Club Penang Cyclists and Rotary Club of Tanjung Bungah, the cyclists faced daunting hill climbs at Bukit Genting, and near Balik Pulau, before heading towards Teluk Bahang and the finish line.

Red Bull Malaysia Executive Director, Jyn Wee, a keen sportsman himself, rode alongside participants for several kilometres before taking a respite. He was accompanied by several directors and members of the state executive council.

“We had an overwhelming turnout today and this further motivates me to continue campaigning for more safe lanes designated in the state for the safety of cyclists” said Organising Committee Chairman, Dr. Lim Seh Guan.

Wee, who was equally excited with the occasion, said Red Bull, being an energy drink, is proud to be part of an energy-absorbing event such as the CFAL5.

“We are proud to have been part of the Red Bull-CFAL5 as it is an exhilarating experience and a true test of endurance, just as in line with our motto of pushing you beyond your limits,” added Wee.

Red Bull has been actively energising Malaysians in various sporting fields on a large scale, and hopes to continue their efforts in aspiring Malaysians all around to reach greater heigt
